A breakthrough! China's petroleum synthetic resin products are now being sold directly to the United States.

On July 2, the first batch of 245 tons of special-grade raw materials for IBC totes arrived smoothly at U.S. ports. This milestone marks East China Chemical Sales Company’s successful opening of a new export corridor to the United States, delivering a historic first for PetroChina to sell synthetic resin products directly to U.S. buyers and advancing domestic polyolefin new materials into high-end global markets.

Since the start of this year, domestic prices of plastic and chemical products have experienced sharp volatility amid cutthroat market competition. Starting in April, shifts in the international crude oil supply landscape triggered tight supplies of large hollow chemical feedstocks overseas. Seizing this overseas market opportunity, the company leveraged export channels via the trading center to streamline the full foreign trade export workflow within just one week. While fully guaranteeing supplies to key domestic clients, it coordinated supply and demand across both domestic and international markets.

Throughout project execution, the team overcame multiple hurdles to facilitate U.S.-bound exports. In response to stringent U.S. Customs regulations governing container weight limits, pallet material specifications and tariff policies, business specialists maintained frequent, round-the-clock communication with U.S. counterparts despite time zone disparities.

 

Notably for the U.S.-specific Importer Security Filing (ISF) mandatory maritime import declaration requirement, the team prioritized timeliness. Immediately upon receiving critical identifiers including container and bill of lading numbers, staff rushed to complete the emergency filing within the mandatory 24-hour window prior to vessel loading, securing a fully seamless logistics chain.

To date, the company has exported nearly 2,500 tons of large hollow chemical feedstocks in total. Its product footprint has expanded from Southeast Asian markets including Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia to North America.
