Yangzi Petrochemical Co., Ltd. (referred to as Yangzi Petrochemical Co.) and the Yangzi Petrochemical Branch of Sinopec Group Asset Management Co., Ltd. (referred to as Yangzi Petrochemical Branch) were formerly known as Yangzi Petrochemical Company, established in September 1983, located in the northern part of Nanjing City, in the economically developed region of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The company mainly engages in the production, processing, and sales of petroleum refining and hydrocarbon derivatives. In 1998, asset restructuring was implemented, leading to the establishment of Sinopec Yangzi Petrochemical Co., Ltd., primarily engaged in petrochemicals, and Sinopec Group Yangzi Petrochemical Co., Ltd., focused on public utilities. In 2006, Sinopec Yangzi Petrochemical Co., Ltd. was delisted from the stock market, and in October 2007, it was absorbed and merged into China Petrochemical Yangzi Petrochemical Co., Ltd. Meanwhile, Sinopec Group Yangzi Petrochemical Co., Ltd. was reorganized into the Yangzi Petrochemical Branch of Sinopec Group Asset Management Co., Ltd. By the end of 2007, Yangzi Petrochemical Co. successfully acquired Taizhou Petrochemical and Qingjiang Petrochemical, extending its industrial chain further. After more than 20 years of continuous and efficient development, the overall production capacity of Yangzi Petrochemical has more than doubled. Currently, Yangzi Petrochemical Co. owns over 60 large-scale petrochemical facilities, including crude oil processing with a capacity of 9 million tons per year, ethylene production at 650,000 tons per year, aromatics production at 1.4 million tons per year, purified terephthalic acid (PTA) production at 1.05 million tons per year, plastic production at 870,000 tons per year, ethylene glycol production at 300,000 tons per year, and butadiene production at 210,000 tons per year. Annually, the company can produce over 9 million tons of products across five major categories: polyolefin plastics, polyester raw materials, basic organic chemical raw materials, oil products, and synthetic rubber, totaling more than 60 types. It is one of the largest producers of benzene, para-xylene, ortho-xylene, PTA, ethylene glycol, butadiene, and ethylene oxide in China. The Yangzi Petrochemical Branch possesses auxiliary facilities for public utilities, including a power plant with an installed capacity of 360,000 kilowatts, water supply capacity of 660,000 tons per day, and wastewater treatment capacity of 3,950 cubic meters per hour. To meet the challenges of global market competition, Yangzi Petrochemical insists on joint ventures and cooperation with foreign entities. It has invested 6.3 billion RMB and established seven joint ventures. Yangzi Petrochemical has become one of China's key petrochemical production bases.
