VSL's Green Initiatives We strategically source products from local businesses (including plants from local ecological areas) that are in close proximity to the project site location. Where possible, we establish a dedicated stockpile on site and supply all garden media in bulk (via truck and trailer) to minimise carbon emissions by reducing deliveries and site wastage. Where possible, we establish a temporary nursery . The benefits of setting up onsite mean reduced plant deliveries, lower plant mortality post planting and improved handling efficiencies. We produce monthly energy reports through our comprehensive vehicle GPS tracking system, which allows us to: map the most efficient routes to the project site. track fuel consumption. monitor idling times on fleet vehicles. To eliminate landfill wastage, we save the plastic plant pots and trays our team use and return them to the nurseries for reuse , where possible. Where possible, we source trees that are grown in a biodegradable bag . This method not only eliminates the use of plastic bags, but helps reduce root damage when the trees are moved and because they’re planted directly in the ground with the plant, the bag naturally decomposes over time.
