This break allows the surface of your eye to return to its natural curvature and allows your optometrist to more accurately measure your eyes. Take a one week break for soft lenses and two weeks for hard / gas permeable lenses. If you have recent optician reports, please bring them with you. Arrange for someone to drive you home. Eye dilating drops that are used during this appointment will make it unsafe to drive. What happens during your consultation with Vision Scotland During your assessment you will complete a questionnaire (with our assistance), undergo a series of painless non-invasive tests, and an examination of the front and back of your eye. We will usually put drops in your eyes to dilate your pupils. These will make you sensitive to light for several hours so you are advised not to drive yourself home. You will also be counselled about the best options for your treatment. The biggest decision you will make will probably be the type of lens you choose. Your final stage of assessment will be to meet your Vision Scotland surgeon to discuss your care plan and the cost. You will also see Vision Scotland’s facilities and meet the support team, learn more about pricing and finance information, understand the benefits and the risks of surgery. Vision Scotland's Optometrists One of Vision Scotland’s experienced optometrists will carry out a range of tests to decide which type of cataract surgery is right for you. The tests are non-invasive and totally painless. This information allows your Vision Scotland surgeon determine the best course of action for you.
