UV Pure’s patented Crossfire Technology™ is at the core of all our systems. UV disinfection of Water has experienced an increased acceptance in both commercial and household systems, in part, because of safety issues associated with chlorination and massive improvements in UV technology. As a water treatment technique, UV is known to be an effective disinfectant due to its strong germicidal inactivation ability; UV is energetic enough (ionising radiation) that it can break chemical bonds, killing microbes. UV disinfects water containing bacteria and viruses and can be effective against protozoans like Giardia lamblia cysts or Cryptosporidium oocysts. UV has been used commercially for many years in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, beverage, and electronics industries, especially in Europe. In the US, it was used for drinking water disinfection as far back as the early 1900s … but is now the best way to guarantee your best water supply. The dual-lamp elliptical reflector design delivers concentrated UV radiation with no shadowing. Crossfire Technology uses a unique elliptical reflector design with dual air-mounted lamps to concentrate sterilizing UV light from 360 degrees on the water column. Pathogens have nowhere to hide—penetrating UV radiation is effectively delivered to every point in the water column without UV shadowing by suspended and dissolved solids in the water. The result is industry-leading disinfection performance even for difficult quality water. Even visibly clear water can contain minerals and microorganisms that build up on the transparent quartz sleeve that contains the water column. Crossfire Technology features an automatic self-cleaning mechanism that continually scrapes minerals and biofilm from the quartz-water interface, preventing fouling and maximizing UV dose delivery without manual cleaning intervention. This enables Crossfire to effectively disinfect difficult water like wastewater, rainwater and groundwater with less pre-treatment than other conventional UV systems. Pathogens have nowhere to hide—penetrating UV radiation is effectively delivered to every point in the water column without UV shadowing by suspended and dissolved solids in the water. The result is industry-leading disinfection performance even for difficult quality water. Crossfire Technology integrates multiple smart sensors in rugged housings that continuously monitor UV dose, lamp intensity, and net UV transmittance for optimum performance. Operators can stay informed about their UV system through onboard data logging with optional 4-20 mA and Modbus outputs, visual and audible alarms for event notifications, and self-diagnostic troubleshooting. Crossfire smart sensors eliminate nuisance alarms and help to minimize downtime. The patented configuration of Crossfire Technology makes it effective for water up to 10 times dirtier than conventional UV systems can handle, including UV transmittance (UVT) as low as 35%, hardness up to 855 mg/L, and iron up to 3 mg/L. Disinfection performance is validated for low-UVT applications like wastewater, rainwater, and drinking water from surface and groundwater sources, so less pre-treatment is required. Crossfire delivers high UV dose over a short path length—from 360 degrees—for the most challenging disinfection applications. Crossfire Technology is uniquely configured so that operators are never exposed to untreated water during lamp replacement. The system design makes most maintenance activities quick and easy within a very small footprint. The UV lamps are air-mounted in the reactor chamber rather than in the wetted quartz sleeve to eliminate the risk of breaking the quartz during lamp replacement. Operator safety is further enhanced by electrical, mechanical and thermal safeguards that control contact with potentially harmful elements during maintenance and repairs. Crossfire Technology is engineered to deliver exceptional performance with predictable low operating and total lifetime costs. Quality components like durable anodized aluminum casings and long-lasting LPHO lamps mean that parts don’t have to be replaced often. The functional Crossfire design cuts down on recurring operating costs like manual chemical cleaning, time-consuming lamp changes, and quartz replacement caused by accidental breakage during maintenance. Crossfire systems require no chemicals and have low energy consumption from standard electrical supply. Crossfire systems are plug-and-play with a regular electrical outlet connection and simple plumbing, whether single or multi-unit configuration. All systems are compact and vertically mounted to take up the least footprint. Installation is easy with the provided mounting template, basic hardware, and optional flexible stainless-steel hose connections. Take advantage of the compact modular design of Crossfire Technology to easily configure multiple-unit systems for additional capacity and redundancy at a fraction of the cost of large conventional systems. Variable flow and water quality conditions can also be accommodated with a modular UV system so that disinfection performance is always achieved. Optimized manifold or cabinet configurations can be prefabricated by UV Pure or simply built in-place to accommodate the installation requirements. Crossfire Technology delivers a sterilizing dose of UV radiation from 360 degrees to overcome shadowing and reliably disinfect water with UVT as low as 35%, versus minimum 75% UVT for conventional systems. Crossfire Technology incorporates an automatic self-cleaning mechanism that prevents the quartz from fouling without requiring harsh chemical cleaning like other conventional systems. Crossfire Technology incorporates dual smart sensors for more powerful diagnostics. Crossfire Technology has an automatic wiper mechanism that continuously cleans the quartz, and dual sensors for smarter alarming. Crossfire Technology uses continuous forced-air cooling of lamps in the UV reactor chamber to prevent overheating. Crossfire Technology overcomes this serious problem with its patented dual-lamp elliptical reflector design. Crossfire Technology is designed with advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting features to minimize down-time and keep the system operating. Crossfire Technology has an easy-open chamber design and air-mounted lamps that maintain a safe separation between the operator and wetted parts during lamp changes and most maintenance. Crossfire Technology uses air-mounted lamps with optional heating to keep the system operating effectively for air and water temperatures as low as 1°C (34°F). Crossfire Technology has an easy-open chamber design with air-mounted lamps for fast lamp changes with no risk of breaking the quartz.
