In China, due to the vast territory and large population, development is uneven across different regions. Overall, the vast majority of domestic users still rely on traditional metering devices with low management efficiency and relatively outdated technology, only trialing remote water meters in economically developed urban residential areas. For many small and medium-sized cities and districts, due to insufficient infrastructure for computer and information technology, applying card-based prepaid water meters is more practical for a longer period. In contrast, economically developed large and medium-sized cities have better computer and information technology foundations, and residents have a stronger awareness of water resource conservation and timely payment, demanding higher quality in water resource consumption methods. However, from a broader perspective, the application of smart water meters in the country is still in its infancy. With the government's increasing emphasis on energy and environmental protection, the water supply industry has seen significant development in recent years. Currently, there are approximately 20 million users in the water pipeline network, and this number continues to grow annually. In this context, promoting the application of smart water meters and transforming management models will undoubtedly bring considerable social and economic benefits.
Xiamen Card Water Meter for Individual Users:
It is believed that everyone has experienced using mechanical water meters: the meter reader knocks on the door, enters the house, records the reading, and issues a payment receipt; if the homeowner is often not at home, the meter reader requests homeowners to record the reading themselves and write it down on paper. There are numerous issues with this process: some homeowners are unwilling to let strangers into their homes, some homeowners cannot read the water meter readings themselves, and many homeowners are unable to pay on time for various reasons. These issues indicate that mechanical water meters can no longer adapt to the development of the times and social progress; people need more user-friendly and convenient water resource metering tools. The household card water meter can resolve these issues: no workers entering the house to read the meter, no bills for payment reminders, and no requirement for homeowners to read the meter. Homeowners can recharge their cards at the property management company or bank at their convenience and can purchase water for a month, several months, or even a year in advance.
Xiamen Card Water Meter is a new concept household water meter that integrates various functions such as automatic water supply, automatic metering, automatic charging, automatic control, display alarms, etc. The household card water meter is an upgraded product of traditional water meters.
Installing water meters upright is a highly undesirable practice; non-standard installation significantly affects measurement accuracy. According to regulations, water meters should be installed and used horizontally. If the water meter is installed at an angle or even vertically, it will not only affect the accuracy of the water meter but also shorten its lifespan. Data shows that for a water meter with a diameter of 15mm, at a flow rate of 1000 liters/hour, if tilted laterally by 45 degrees, the error can increase by 1%; if tilted longitudinally by 45 degrees, the error can increase by as much as 3%; at a flow rate of 180 liters/hour, if tilted laterally by 45 degrees, the error can increase by over 5%, and if tilted longitudinally by 45 degrees, the error can increase by 20% or more.
There are also certain regulations regarding how to install water meters correctly:
1. The water meter should be protected from shock or vibration from surrounding installation locations that could cause damage.
2. The water meter should not be subjected to excessive stress caused by pipes and fittings. If necessary, the water meter should be mounted on a base or bracket. Additionally, the upstream and downstream of the water pipe should be properly secured to ensure that when the water meter is detached or removed from one side, the components do not shift due to water impact.
3. The water meter should be protected from damage due to extreme temperatures of water and surrounding air.
4. The meter pit should be protected from flooding and rainwater.
5. The direction of the water meter should align with the direction indicated by the arrow on the meter. For vertical water meters, the water flow direction is from the bottom for inlet and from the top for outlet, which requires careful attention during pipeline design.
