Why PVC Edge Guard Strips and Corner Guard Strips Are Used in Home Decoration

The corner guards for indoor and outdoor wall corners are a new type of building material. They not only accelerate construction speed and improve project quality but also maintain the aesthetic integrity of wall corners, preventing damage. However, they have not been widely promoted and applied, while in some developed countries, they have become essential building materials. With the rapid development of energy-saving construction in China, the application of corner guards for indoor and outdoor wall corners has become inevitable, especially in external wall insulation systems where this material plays an important functional role. In the construction of external wall insulation, areas around doors, windows, openings, and large corners, as well as some special shapes, are very common. Due to the unpredictability of the mesh fabric, it is very difficult to work with during bagging and overlapping. Additionally, the boards often intersect at the wall corners, with variations of 5mm more or less being common, making it challenging for workers to control the thickness of the plaster layer. Using PVC corner beads can connect the entire wall corner seamlessly, avoiding cracks caused by excessive thickness of the plaster layer. Moreover, corners, along with doors, windows, and openings, are areas where stress concentrates during external wall insulation and are prone to cracking. By adding corner guards, the shrinkage forces can be effectively dispersed and resisted. In the event that a single panel unexpectedly cracks, it is also unlikely to affect the large-scale detachment of the entire system, as the corner guards help unify the panels, making it difficult for a single panel or localized area to impact the entire system. Additionally, during the external wall insulation process, non-standard conditions can lead to an increase in the thickness of the adhesive layer for the exterior tiles (with thicknesses exceeding 10mm occurring frequently), which can generate excessive shrinkage stress or result from improperly mixed bonding mortar, causing localized shrinkage forces to be too strong. Installing corner guards can effectively prevent the occurrence of tile cracking.
