Characteristics: PC lenses, unlike regular resin lenses which are thermosetting materials (liquid raw materials that form solid lenses upon heating), are made of thermoplastic material known as polycarbonate (PC). The raw material is solid and can be shaped into lenses when heated. Therefore, these lenses can deform if exposed to excessive heat after production, making them unsuitable for high humidity and heat conditions. PC lenses possess strong toughness and are shatter-resistant (2cm can be used for bulletproof glass), hence also known as safety lenses. Their specific gravity is only 2 grams per cubic centimeter.
