Introduction to the Principle of Scraper Conveyors:
Scraper conveyors are important transportation tools used in coal mines, chemical mines, metal mines, and power plants for transporting materials. They consist of a central trough, chains, scrapers, and a traction system. The central trough is the main part of the scraper conveyor. Steel central troughs have a history of nearly a hundred years, and during long-term use, they have the following drawbacks: ① Heavy, installation and handling are time-consuming and labor-intensive; ② Central troughs are generally made of 6-15mm steel plates, which are prone to deformation under large impacts, making repairs difficult; ③ Poor corrosion resistance; ④ Poor wear resistance; ⑤ High friction coefficient between the material and the central trough, resulting in most of the power of the scraper conveyor being consumed by the friction between the material and the central trough, leading to excessive energy consumption.
Advantages of Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene Scrapers:
Scrapers for scraper conveyors are manufactured using modified ultra high molecular weight polyethylene. For the large scraper conveyors used on walking coal mining machines, a steel-plastic composite method is adopted, using ultra high molecular weight polyethylene as a liner to improve the wear resistance of large scraper conveyors, extend their service life, reduce the friction coefficient, thereby lowering power consumption and reducing the requirements for the traction and drive systems, which is of great significance for large scraper conveyors.
Special Properties of Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene Scrapers:
1. Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene boards have the highest wear resistance among plastics, and the greater the molecular weight, the higher the wear resistance and impact resistance of the material;
2. The impact strength of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene boards is high among existing plastics, maintaining considerable impact strength even at 70°C;
3. Self-lubricating, low friction coefficient, energy-saving, with a wax-like feel.
4. Extremely low water absorption. Therefore, its physical and mechanical properties are independent of humidity factors in working conditions.
5. Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene boards are chemically stable and can resist corrosion from various corrosive media such as acids, bases, salts, and organic solvents within a certain temperature and concentration range.
6. Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene boards are odorless, non-toxic, and non-corrosive, with physiological cyclicity and compatibility.
7. Non-adhesive;
8. When the molecular weight of high-density polyethylene exceeds 500,000, the embrittlement temperature drops to 140°C. Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene can even maintain certain mechanical strength at temperatures as low as -269°C under liquid nitrogen.
