PEEK high-performance polymer is a high-temperature thermoplastic with a high glass transition temperature of 162°C and a melting point of 358°C. Its load-bearing thermal deformation temperature can reach up to 332°C (for grades reinforced with 30% glass fiber or carbon fiber). It can be used continuously at 260°C, and compared to other high-temperature plastics such as PPS, PTFE, PAI, and PPU, its upper temperature limit exceeds by nearly 60°C. PEEK resin not only has excellent heat resistance compared to other high-temperature plastics but also possesses high strength, high modulus, high fracture toughness, and excellent dimensional stability. PEEK resin maintains high strength at elevated temperatures, achieving a bending strength of about 24MPa at 200°C. At 260°C, its bending strength and compressive strength still range from 15 to 19MPa. PEEK resin has high rigidity, good dimensional stability, and a low coefficient of linear expansion, very close to that of aluminum materials. It exhibits excellent chemical resistance; its corrosion resistance is comparable to nickel steel, and it is inherently flame-retardant, releasing minimal smoke and toxic gases under flame conditions, with strong radiation resistance. PEEK resin has good toughness and outstanding fatigue resistance to alternating stress, comparable to alloy materials. PEEK resin exhibits outstanding tribological properties, excellent wear resistance against sliding and fretting, especially maintaining high wear resistance and a low coefficient of friction at 256°C. PEEK is easy to extrude and injection mold, with excellent processing performance and high molding efficiency. Additionally, PEEK has good self-lubricating properties, is easy to machine, has stable electrical insulation, and excellent hydrolysis resistance. Its comprehensive performance, good mechanical properties, high-temperature resistance, and superior chemical resistance make it a versatile plastic.
