Installation Precautions for Aluminum Alloy Lined Plastic Composite Pipes
Aluminum alloy lined PE-RT composite pipes have an outer layer made of 6063 aluminum alloy pipe and an inner layer made of PERT plastic pipe. Due to the special properties of the PERT pipe material, the requirements for temperature, speed, and hot melt equipment during construction are very high. Please pay attention to the following 4 points during installation.
Tools / Materials
Special cutting tools for aluminum alloy lined PERT composite pipes and electric cutting tools
Special hot melt machine for the inner PERT pipe of aluminum alloy lined PERT composite pipes
Methods / Steps
1. Peeling the aluminum alloy lined PERT composite pipe: Use a special cutting tool to peel the outer layer of the aluminum alloy pipe of the aluminum alloy lined PERT composite pipe. The cutting depth should be shallow, only leaving a mark on the aluminum alloy pipe. Be careful not to cut through the aluminum alloy pipe, as this could damage the inner PERT pipe.
2. Hot melt equipment for aluminum alloy lined PERT composite pipes: The construction of PE-RT pipes has very high requirements for the hot melt process, requiring the use of a special PERT hot melt machine, which maintains a constant temperature of 260°C (the theoretical temperature for PERT material is 255-265°C). The outer membrane of the hot melt machine's mold head should have a coating of more than 15mu, which is a special coating material for PERT.
3. Hot melt process for the inner PERT pipe of aluminum alloy lined PERT composite pipes: Heat the PERT pipe hot melt machine to 260°C. When the temperature is stable and the green light of the hot melt machine is on, prepare by holding the PERT pipe in one hand and the PERT fittings in the other. Apply balanced force with both hands to perform the socket hot melt. Generally, the pipe is easy to insert fully, while the fittings may take longer. Once the fittings are fully inserted, quickly pull out the pipe and fittings, and proceed to socket connection while adjusting the direction and position. Maintain a socket depth and stabilize the pressure for 60 seconds before releasing.
4. Key points during hot melting of PERT pipes: The key moment is when pulling out the mold head; at that instant, quickly perform the socket connection. The cooling speed of PERT material is 2.5 times that of PPR. For PPR pipes, a safe pulling time for the mold head is 6-9 seconds, while for PERT pipes, the rapid socket connection time is 2-4 seconds. Control this speed for safety, otherwise, it may cause water leakage hazards.
Precautions
When hot melting the PERT pipe at 260°, the rapid socket connection time after pulling out the mold head is 2-4 seconds; because the cooling speed of PERT material is 2.5 times that of PPR
The hot melt temperature for PERT pipes is 260°C
