Due to the fact that carbon fiber is too thin to be woven into fabric in a crosswise manner like glass fiber, it can only be arranged vertically and fixed onto the backing with glue. Therefore, genuine carbon fiber fabric has only warp yarns and no weft yarns, which is an important distinction between carbon fiber rods and glass fiber rods. Sometimes a mesh pattern can be seen on the body of carbon fiber rods, which is printed onto the backing through resin glue, distinctly different from woven glass fiber fabric. Carbon fiber prepreg is made by applying epoxy resin under high pressure and high temperature onto carbon fiber. Classification By carbon fiber precursor: 1. PAN-based carbon fiber fabric (over 90% of the market consists of this type of carbon fiber fabric); 2. Viscose-based carbon fiber fabric; 3. Pitch-based carbon fiber fabric. By carbon fiber specifications: 1. 1K carbon fiber fabric; 2. 3K carbon fiber fabric; 3. 6K carbon fiber fabric; 4. 12K carbon fiber fabric; 5. 24K and above large tow carbon fiber fabric. By carbon fiber carbonization: 1. Graphitized carbon fiber fabric, can withstand high temperatures of 2000-3000 degrees; 2. Carbon fiber fabric, can withstand high temperatures of around 1000 degrees; 3. Pre-oxidized carbon fiber fabric, can withstand high temperatures of 200-300 degrees. By weaving method: 1. Dry process prepreg; 2. Wet process prepreg; 3. Unidirectional prepreg; 4. Prepreg tape; 5. Non-support fabric; 6. Support fabric, etc. Application fields: 1) Aerospace: fuselage, rudder, engine casing of rockets, diffusers, solar panels, etc.; 2) Sports equipment: automotive parts, motorcycle parts, fishing rods, baseball bats, skis, speedboats, badminton rackets, etc.; 3) Industry: engine components, reinforcement materials for concrete structures, fan blades, drive shafts, as well as electrical components, etc.; 4) Firefighting: suitable for the production of special fireproof clothing for military, firefighting, steel plants, etc. Fire protection grade: Grade A - non-combustible, executing standard GB8624-2006, German standard DIN4102 A1 level.
