With a backbone structure of silicon-oxygen (Si－O) bonds, the bond energy of C－C is 82.6 kcal/mol, while the bond energy of Si－O in organosilicon is 121 kcal/mol, giving it high thermal stability; at high temperatures (or under radiation exposure), the chemical bonds of the molecules do not break or decompose.
