Brief description:The co-rotating twin-screw extruder consists of several parts including the transmission device, feeding device, barrel, and screws. The functions of each component are similar to those in a single-screw extruder, as shown in Figure 1. The difference from a single-screw extruder lies in that the twin-screw extruder has two parallel screws placed within a barrel with an "∞" shaped cross-section.

1. The transmission part provides torque to the screw, and strong torque output is the guarantee for the efficient operation of the twin-screw extruder; the extrusion part is mainly composed of the barrel, screw elements, and core shaft, where the material completes plasticization, mixing, and extrusion.
 
All of its technological advancements are also concentrated in these two parts, constituting the hallmark of the updates and iterations of twin-screw extruders.
 
Compared to other models, one of its major features is the difference in the drive system. It requires evenly distributing power to two screws within a limited space, which is known as torque distribution technology. Different torque distribution technologies determine the load capacity of the gearbox and even directly affect the overall machine's lifespan and performance.
 
The extrusion section is mainly composed of the barrel, screw elements, and core shaft, serving as the functional area for plasticization and mixing in a twin-screw extruder. The screw clearance, volumetric capacity, rotational speed, core shaft strength, and the lifespan of the screw elements are key indicators for evaluating the performance of the extrusion section of a twin-screw extruder.

Maintenance:
 
1. The extruder equipment should be placed in a well-ventilated area to ensure heat dissipation from the motor, thereby extending its lifespan; the machine should also maintain good grounding.
 
2. Regularly check the screws of the cutting tools. After using a new machine for 1 hour, use tools to tighten the screws of the moving and fixed blades, as well as their fixation to the blade holder; lubricating oil should be regularly added to the bearings to ensure proper lubrication; to maintain the sharpness of the cutting edges, frequently inspect the cutting tools and ensure their sharpness to reduce unnecessary damage to other components caused by dull or damaged blades; regularly check if the belt is loose and adjust it in time.
 
3. Restart - Before the second start of the reinforced blade, the remaining scraps in the machine chamber should be cleared to reduce the starting resistance. The inertia cover and pulley cover should be opened regularly to clean the dust outlet below the flange, as the powder material discharged from the crushing chamber may enter the shaft bearing.
 
4. Replacement of components – When replacing the cutting tools, the gap between the moving blade and the fixed blade should be 0.8mm for shredders above 20HP, and 0.5mm for those below 20HP. The thinner the recycled material, the larger the gap can be appropriately adjusted.

1. Cause of occurrence:
 
Start-up procedure error.
 
(2) The main motor thread has issues, communication fault
 
(3) The interlock device associated with the main motor is activated.
 
2. Processing Methods:
 
(1) Check the procedure and restart the machine in the correct sequence.
 
(2) Check the main motor circuit.
 
(3) Check if the lubricating oil pump has started, and inspect the status of the interlock devices related to the main motor; the motor cannot be started if the oil pump is not running.
 
(4) Check if the emergency button has been reset.
