 Product Overview:

  Shandong Tianhai Bentonite Waterproof Blanket (GCL) is a geosynthetic material specifically designed for preventing leakage in artificial lakes, landfill sites, underground garages, rooftop gardens, pools, oil depots, and chemical storage areas. GCL is made by filling high-expansion sodium bentonite between specially designed composite geotextiles and non-woven fabrics, with the upper layer of non-woven fabric fibers locking the bentonite in place on the lower composite woven fabric through a specialized needle punching process. The bentonite waterproof mat created by the needle-punching method forms many small fiber spaces, preventing bentonite particles from flowing in one direction. When exposed to water, it forms a uniform, high-density gel layer within the mat, effectively preventing water leakage.

  GCL is a leakage prevention liner that falls between CCL (on-site thick compacted clay liner) and polymer geomembranes.

Product Applications:

    Mainly applied in environmental engineering projects such as waste landfills, underground reservoirs, and underground infrastructure, addressing sealing, isolation, and leakage prevention issues with effective results and strong resistance to damage.

Product Features:

    1. Density: Sodium bentonite forms a high-density diaphragm under water pressure. At a thickness of about 3mm, its permeability is below aX10-11 m/sec, equivalent to 100 times the density of 30cm thick clay, exhibiting strong self-water retention capabilities;

    2. Waterproof Performance: As sodium bentonite is a natural inorganic material, it does not undergo aging or corrosion even after a long time or changes in the surrounding environment, ensuring durable waterproof performance;

    3. Easy Construction: Compared to other waterproof materials, the installation of bentonite waterproof blankets is relatively simple. There is no need for heating or gluing; connections and fixings can be done with bentonite powder and nails or washers. After installation, no special inspections are required, and if waterproof defects are found, repairs are easy. GCL is one of the quickest to install among existing waterproof materials;

    4. Temperature Resistance: The bentonite waterproof blanket is not affected by temperature; it does not become brittle under cold weather conditions;

    5. Integration with Waterproof Materials and Objects: When sodium bentonite reacts with water, it has an expansion capacity of 13-16 times. Even if concrete structures experience vibrations and settling, the bentonite within the GCL can repair cracks within 2mm on the concrete surface;

    6. Environmentally Friendly: Bentonite is a natural inorganic material that is harmless and non-toxic to humans, with no significant impact on the environment, showcasing good environmental performance.

Construction Methods:

    1. The connections between GCL (bentonite waterproof blankets) and the connections between GCL structures are simple, and the sealing at the seams can also be easily ensured.

    1.1. Simple Overlapping Method: Overlap the GCL (bentonite waterproof blanket) by 25cm in both length and width directions (with 10cm on the main body and 15cm on the edges), ensuring that the seams are wrinkle-free and free of dirt and other materials. At 25cm from the edge, use manual or mechanical methods to lay a 10cm wide and 1cm high strip of bentonite powder between the two layers of GCL.

    1.2. Tight Seam with Paste Method: Generally, for relatively flat seams, directly use the "strip method" for sealing. On slopes and special points, use bentonite paste (bentonite paste can be made by adding water at a weight ratio of 1:3 to bentonite powder, mixing continuously until a smooth and soft paste is obtained).

    2. Connection of GCL (bentonite waterproof blanket) with pipes and structures

    1. Use the "strip method" or "paste method" to carefully seal. When connecting to structures, ensure that the ends of the GCL (bentonite waterproof blanket) on horizontal surfaces are meticulously constructed to guarantee sealing.

    2. When laying bentonite blankets (GCL) on vertical and sloped surfaces, to prevent slipping, use pins with washers for fixation. In addition to fixing the overlapping and edge areas of the bentonite blanket with steel nails, additional nails may be added in the middle of the blanket based on the flatness. Ensure the bentonite blanket is firmly attached to the wall and floor, and if necessary, use bentonite paste to adhere it to the wall. Nail holes can be treated as needed.
