Year-Over-Year Surge Exceeds 300%! BYD Becomes the Top Chinese New Energy Automaker in Europe

In terms of automobile brand sales, BYD topped the list of Chinese brands in the European new energy vehicle market with sales of 71,345 units, a remarkable year-on-year increase of 322.99%, demonstrating strong growth momentum.


As a comparison, among Chinese brands whose new energy vehicle sales in Europe exceeded 10,000 units in the first half of the year, only BYD and MG made the list. However, MG’s cumulative sales were limited to 40,708 units due to tariff restrictions, representing a year-on-year decline of 21.91%, while BYD experienced a strong surge of 322.99%.
In terms of single model sales, BYD has also performed remarkably in the European market. The BYD Seal U (Song PLUS) sold 32,802 units, ranking first among Chinese new energy vehicle models in the European new energy market in the first half of the year, with a year-on-year increase of 3,727.54%.
BYD Seal sold 9,261 units, a year-on-year increase of 132.57%; BYD Dolphin sold 8,009 units, a year-on-year increase of 117.81%; BYD Yuan PLUS also achieved sales of 6,801 units.
Moreover, BYD has performed outstandingly in the five major European markets of the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. Currently, BYD has become the leading new energy vehicle brand in countries such as Spain and Italy.
In fact, in the past two years, with BYD's self-purchased ro-ro ships being delivered and put into operation one after another, its overseas business has also been rapidly expanding.
Currently, BYD's new energy vehicles have a widespread presence in overseas markets, covering Europe, Central and South America, as well as Southeast Asia, reaching 112 countries and regions worldwide.
From January to August this year, BYD's cumulative global sales reached 2.8639 million vehicles, representing a year-on-year growth of over 23%. Among them, the overseas market made a significant contribution, with sales exceeding 630,700 vehicles, a figure that has already surpassed the total overseas sales for the entire year of 2024.
In addition, the latest data from the China Passenger Car Association shows that from January to August this year,BYDWith a cumulative sales volume of 2.86 million vehicles, it firmly holds the top position. Among the latest sales target of 4.6 million vehicles for the year 2025, the completion rate has already reached 62%, continuously leading the energy sector.
