XPeng Globalization Accelerates: Magna's Austrian Plant to Start Production in Q3, European "R&D-Production Loop" Formed
In the third quarter of 2025, XPeng Motors' first localized production project in Europe officially commenced at the Magna factory in Graz, Austria, with the mass production models XPeng G6 and G9 rolling off the line. This marks a crucial step in XPeng Motors' globalization strategy. The factory is the world's largest and sole manufacturer of the Mercedes G-Class, with a century of experience and over 3 million vehicles in mass production. Magna will provide XPeng with support from its existing production lines, and both parties will adopt a contract manufacturing model while gradually deepening localization.

According to the plan, the Magna factory will further expand the production of Xiaopeng's pure electric sedans, mid-sized SUVs, and ultra-electric models, among other categories. Xiaopeng's Vice Chairman, Ge Hongdi, previously emphasized that "local production is a necessary option for deepening our presence in the European market." This production layout aligns with the recent inauguration of Xiaopeng's first R&D center in Europe—the Munich R&D center—creating a "R&D + Production" strategic loop in Europe and establishing a key support point for the export of Chinese smart automotive technology.
