U.S. President Trump recently revealed at an artificial intelligence summit that he had considered breaking up American chip giant NVIDIA, with the aim of enhancing market competitiveness in the U.S. chip manufacturing sector. "I said at the time, 'Look, we can break up this company...'" Trump stated in Washington, "but after understanding the actual situation, I didn't think about it anymore."

The "actual situation" he referred to is that splitting Nvidia is extremely difficult, and the company's technology is already far ahead of other competitors. For this reason, he ultimately abandoned the idea.

These remarks were made at an artificial intelligence summit with technology industry representatives. Trump had previously introduced his administration's artificial intelligence agenda at the summit. This agenda focuses on both technological diversity and the global dominance of American companies. Trump also wants to promote the construction of data centers.

Recently, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has developed a good relationship with Trump. Due to U.S. restrictions on the export of AI chips, Nvidia has been affected multiple times. However, through active communication with the U.S. side, Jensen Huang ultimately secured some policy relaxation. Just last week, Huang met with Trump at the White House. A few days later, Nvidia announced that its H20 series of AI chips would be allowed to be exported to China again. This news is seen as one of the company's most significant breakthroughs of the year and is expected to bring Nvidia several billion dollars in additional revenue.

At the summit, Trump also specially expressed his respect for Jensen Huang: "You have made an incredible achievement." Jensen Huang had previously praised Trump, stating that one of America's "unique advantages" is that "no other country in the world has a president like Trump."

Currently, NVIDIA plays a key role in the U.S. government's global trade strategy. Its GPU chips are an important foundation for artificial intelligence research and development, making them a crucial tool for the U.S. to exert pressure on China. The U.S. government leverages NVIDIA's dominant position in this field to influence China in the semiconductor sector.

It is worth mentioning that as of the beginning of this month, NVIDIA has become the world's first semiconductor company with a market value exceeding $4 trillion, further cementing its leading position in the artificial intelligence technology and chip market.
