Tesla recalls 46,000 Cybertrucks, citing that the exterior panels may increase "crash risk"
Tesla recalls over 46,000 Cybertrucks due to the possibility that their exterior trim panels may "detach from the vehicle," potentially becoming a road hazard and "increasing the risk of a crash."
Tesla wrote in the documents submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that this recall involves the exterior components of the vehicle, namely the roof rails, and will affect all Cybertruck vehicles produced from November 2023 to February 2025.
The recall of the Cybertruck occurred at an already challenging time for the struggling electric vehicle manufacturer, with its market value having dropped by more than 40% as CEO Musk continues to serve as a senior advisor to the Trump administration.
The company wrote in the document that owners of affected vehicles can bring their Cybertruck to Tesla's service department for a free replacement of the roof rails.
