Syensqo and Teijin Carbon Fiber Join Forces! Epoxy Resin Infusion System Receives Aerospace Qualification
Syensqo’s Prism EP2400 epoxy infusion system, combined with Teijin Carbon’s Tenax IMS65 E23 24K non-crimp fabric (NCF) and woven unidirectional (UD woven) reinforcement materials, has been certified by the National Center for Advanced Materials Performance (NCAMP). NCAMP is part of the National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) at Wichita State University and operates under the sponsorship of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), being responsible for the certification of materials for aerospace applications.
Officially recognized by the US and Europe.
This certification is recognized by both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and has led to the formation of Material Specification NMS 241 and Process Specification NPS 82401. This certification is accompanied by a publicly available NCAMP material performance data report. This document provides aerospace manufacturers with certified material data that can be directly used in design, thereby accelerating the implementation process in applications where resin infusion can bring significant performance and cost advantages.
"This certification fills a critical gap in publicly available materials data for the aerospace sector," said Rob Blackburn, Head of Customer Engineering at Syensqo. "This is the first resin infusion system in the NCAMP database, providing manufacturers with a validated and scalable alternative to autoclave processing for applications suitable for resin infusion technology, such as integrated structures."
