For a long time, Siemens Healthineers has been evaluating its diagnostics business. Recent reports about a possible sale have pleased investors. According to sources familiar with the matter, the medical technology group Siemens Healthineers is considering selling its diagnostics business and has held preliminary talks with major private equity firms. Potential interested parties include Blackstone, CVC, KKR, and Montagu.
Siemens Healthineers began evaluating its diagnostics business two years ago. This business area primarily involves testing blood and tissue samples to identify diseases and infections. The current valuation of this business area exceeds 6 billion euros. The imaging segment and Varian's focus on cancer treatment technologies will not be included in any potential sale.
However, according to media reports, it is still uncertain whether these potential sale negotiations will result in a deal. Nevertheless, the mere idea of such a transaction has pleased investors: shares of Siemens Healthineers rose as much as 3.6%. The company plans to hold a capital markets day on November 17.
