SIBUR Develops New Polyethylene for Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Packaging
SIBUR has developed a new type of metallocene linear low-density polyethylene mLL20183 FE for flexible packaging. This grade can be used for the production of fast-moving consumer goods packaging: barrier films and laminated films, milk bags, and stretch films.
The new grade is not inferior in physical and mechanical properties compared to similar imported materials and will replace foreign supplies. Products using it are renowned for high welding characteristics, strength, and tear resistance. Due to the improved manufacturability of processing the new grade, the productivity of the blown film production line has increased, and the possibility of seamless transition between grades with melt flow index (MFI) 1 and 3 has significantly reduced operational costs in production.
The mLL20183 FE brand was developed by experts from the SIBUR PolyLab R&D center and Kazanorgsintez, with direct participation from packaging manufacturers Polyer, Kama Polymer Materials Plant, and Desnogorsk Polymer Plant.
Kermen Bovaldinova, Director of Product Development at SIBUR PolyLab, stated: "Our approach to developing new grades demonstrates our desire to combine scientific capability with market production ambitions. We see that these projects can not only replace imports but also create a truly competitive packaging industry domestically."
