Possible Collaboration Ahead: Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Spotted at Ferrari Factory
Recently, Car Quality Network learned from relevant channels that a Xiaomi SU7 Ultra was spotted in Maranello, Italy, and was seen driving out from the gates of the Ferrari factory. According to insider information, the vehicle was purchased by Ferrari and may be used for the research and testing of their next-generation pure electric platform and electronic control systems. Individuals who have been long-term observers of the factory noted that previously, only the Porsche Taycan had been seen at Ferrari’s electric vehicle R&D base. As early as 2024, there were rumors that Ferrari had sent an engineering team to visit Xiaomi’s headquarters to discuss the joint development of high-performance electric motors, although there has been no official response regarding the progress of this collaboration so far.
Meanwhile, near the Hyundai Motor headquarters on the Gyeongbu Expressway in South Korea, a Xiaomi SU7 with temporary license plates was also spotted being transported by a truck. It is reported that Hyundai Motor has officially applied for a temporary operation permit for this model and is conducting internal testing for research and development purposes. Several SU7 vehicles have already appeared at Hyundai's Namyang Research Institute. Analysts point out that Hyundai may be evaluating the technical architecture of Xiaomi’s HyperOS system to provide reference for its own Pleos Connect system, which is planned for launch in 2026.
According to public information, Jim Farley, CEO of Ford Motor Company, mentioned in an interview that after test-driving the Xiaomi SU7 for half a year, he "no longer wanted to drive his original car," further proving the widespread attention the car has attracted in the international automotive community.
Returning to Ferrari, its first electric vehicle will be a limited-edition special model. According to Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna, the car is expected to make its official debut in the spring of 2026. On October 9, 2025, Ferrari will also unveil a series of electrification technology achievements, after which the exterior and interior designs of the new car will be revealed. The vehicle is expected to be delivered in October 2026. The new model is likely to be named “Elettrica,” which means “electric” in Italian. In addition, Ferrari has applied for patents on virtual engine sound and simulated gear shift systems for the electric vehicle, a concept similar to the technology used in the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N model. For more information about the new car, CheZhiWang will continue to follow up and report.
