PolyOne Launches Continuous Glass Fiber Reinforced UD Tape to Enhance Production Scalability

Multiple resin substrate options (PP/PE/PETG)
The new Polystrand™ tape utilizes wide-width glass fiber reinforced unidirectional composites, enhancing manufacturing efficiency and production scalability. This product offers a variety of resin matrices, including polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PETG), and amorphous polyethylene terephthalate (aPET). These customizable tapes, produced in Englewood, Colorado, will create more innovative opportunities for thermoplastic composites in both existing and emerging markets.
Composite Utility Poles: Lightweight and High-Toughness Alternative to Traditional Materials
Pulivan will also showcase the new GridCore™ composite utility pole. This product serves as an alternative to traditional wooden, steel, or concrete poles and is specifically designed to enhance grid resilience. Compared to traditional materials, the GridCore glass fiber reinforced thermoset composite pole is lightweight, significantly simplifying the installation process.
Compared to wooden poles, this product offers higher durability, requiring less maintenance and featuring insect-resistant properties. These advantages help achieve lower total system costs and lifecycle costs compared to other materials. The addition of GridCore poles further expands Pultrusion’s leading portfolio of pultruded composite products in the power transmission and distribution market. The Glasforms™ pultruded products manufactured at its plant in Birmingham, Alabama, include a series of insulators, arresters, crossarms, and GridCore poles.
