Nova Chemicals Commercializes Two Recycled Polyethylene Grades
China Chemical News: Nova Chemicals recently announced the commercial launch of two new recycled polyethylene (rPE) grades—SYNDIGO rPE-IN3 and SYNDIGO rPE-IN4—targeting the North American general non-food-grade applications market. These two products are the latest additions to this resin series, with all raw materials sourced from 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) films.
The new product is produced by Novolex's polyethylene mechanical recycling facility SYNDIGO1 located in Connersville, Indiana, and belongs to the recycled linear low-density polyethylene (rLLDPE) category, suitable for applications such as garbage bags, protective packaging, shopping bags, outer packaging, shrink film, and heavy duty packaging bags. Among them, rPE-IN3 is made from recycled polyethylene (PE) stretch film, while rPE-IN4 is derived from recycled mixed retail PE film, with the raw materials sourced from the back-end of distribution centers and stores.
Alan Schrob, Director of Mechanical Recycling at Nova Chemicals, stated that the SYNDIGO1 facility demonstrates the feasibility of film-to-film recycling, with product quality, stability, and scale that meet customer expectations.
