Leading enterprise invests billions! Recycled fiber capacity in 2025 may exceed 20 million tons!
A New Vision for Recycled PET 2025-03-24 13:41:49

As a key part of driving green and circular economies, the market for regenerated fibers has seen unprecedented growth opportunities in recent years. Textile companies that supply major brands like Adidas, Inditex, H&M, and Uniqlo have felt the impact deeply, with them increasingly requesting suppliers to provide more eco-friendly fibers, leading to a gradual increase in the use of regenerated fibers each year. Fabrics exported to the EU, which will take effect on July 18, 2024, as regulated by the ESPR (EU Sustainable Textiles Regulation), have raised the bar even higher for the environmental friendliness of fabrics.

Soaring. There have been growing corporate efforts into upstream ventures with enormous expenditures from giant firms. (translation note: The equivalent expression of the previous sentences would be “With a flurry of moves upstream corporate enterprises have started spending big in various areas.}")

Peipu launches FixDye Eco-Recycled Polyester Filament

The capacity will reach 250,000 tons.

March 12th, the “Rebirth of the Future—FixDye环保再生涤纶长丝发布会” was held at the National Exhibition and Trade Fair Center in Shanghai. On the same day, REO-ECO, a subsidiary of Pears Technology Group, released FixDye环保再生涤纶长丝.

FixDye eco-regenerated polyester yarn is made from materials such as plastic bottles, waste yarn, and waste fabric, combining 100% imported equipment Broma and TMT, and utilizing advanced direct-spinning technology, significantly shortening the production process while enhancing product quality. The regenerated polyester yarn includes POY, FDY, DTY high-quality yarns, which are widely used in apparel, home textiles, and other fields, meeting the market demand for high-quality regenerated fibers.

As a 100% vertically integrated full-industry chain manufacturer of eco-friendly textile recycling technology, Pears specialize in producing recycled yarn, ensuring the authenticity and traceability of the products. Pears also actively adopts clean energy sources such as solar and wind power, striving to create a green factory that contributes to environmental protection. Currently, the Pears' Kelas project aims to produce a full-industry chain from recycling bottle glass to dyeing yarn of yarn (FixDye), with the first phase of yarn production reaching 10,000 tons and total production capacity of 25,000 tons.

The Huainan New Materials Project of 50 million tons recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) in Huainan, Jiangsu Province.

Jiangsu Green Silk Lay New Poly Material Co., Ltd. plans to invest a total of 50 billion yuan for a project to produce 500,000 tons of regenerated polyester new materials per year, focusing on the regeneration of waste polyester textiles into polyester new materials. The project is implemented in two stages. In the first stage, with an investment of 11 billion yuan, it plans to purchase and construct 178 acres of land, building a regenerated polyester production workshop, waste polyester textile sorting workshop, raw material warehouse, and a comprehensive office building with a total building area of 152,600 square meters. This includes purchasing equipment such as a catalyst configuration system, alcoholic dissolution tank, pre-gelatinization tank, final polymerization tank, drum dryer, extruder, spinning machine, air compressor, spinning equipment, and winding machine, to construct a 100,000-ton waste polyester textile regenerated polyester new material production line; the main production processes include: waste polyester (PET) textiles → alcoholic dissolution → liquid phase viscosity modification → regenerated polyester chips → pre-crystallization, drying → melting spinning → high-speed winding → regenerated polyethylene terephthalate POY → stretching → DTY filaments, along with accompanying construction of auxiliary facilities; in the second stage, with an additional investment of 39 billion yuan, it plans to purchase and construct 288 acres of land, expanding the production scale of 400,000 tons of waste polyester textile regenerated polyester new materials.

As a key industrial project of Hua'an Hongze District in Jiangsu Province, the 1st phase of the 50 million ton per year recycled polyethylene new materials project of Jiangsu Green Can New Materials Co., Ltd. is expected to be completed in the first half of 2026. Upon completion of the project, it is predicted to generate 60 billion yuan in sales and 1.8 billion yuan in tax for the district.

The project, located in Yutai County, Jining City, is invested and constructed by Sateri Group, a subsidiary of Singapore's RGE Group. With a total investment of 11 billion yuan, the project has been included in the 8th batch of major foreign-funded projects of the National Development and Reform Commission. The first phase of the project is financed by a banking syndicate led by the Jining Branch of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC). The syndicate includes Bank of China, China Construction Bank, Agricultural Bank of China, Bank of Communications, Postal Savings Bank of China, Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, and China Minsheng Bank. This financing has set a new record for the fastest approval speed, the shortest closing time for the syndicate, and synchronization of loan disbursement and construction, achieving a "New Spring Speed."

Upon full commissioning, the project is expected to generate annual operating revenue of 10.4 billion yuan, creating employment for over 2,000 people. It plans to construct four fiber material production lines, which will be the largest single-line capacities globally. This will attract and cluster a number of upstream and downstream enterprises, fostering a textile new-materials industry cluster with a value of 50 billion yuan, leading the development of new productive forces in the textile industry.

On March 5, 2025, the Fuzhou Ecological Environment Bureau's notice regarding the approval decision for a construction project environmental impact assessment document is hereby published. The project is located in the Quanjiao Kemeng Economic Development Zone of Fuzhou, proposing to establish a production line for 7000 tons per year of regenerated PA6 opaque pellets, produced by melting and polymerizing waste fishing nets and other waste nylon products into slices.

The CR project of Heshun Group's Fujian Heshun Green Technology Co., Ltd. is developed by the Heshun Group herself, based on the Heshun Group's independently developed Jinxing chemical recycling technology, and builds a closed-loop recycling system of Jinxing T2T, which has undergone pilot tests in Shenzhen Industrial Park.

The project, expected to start producing in the first quarter of 2026, will establish a capacity of 7000 tons of chemical regenerated nylon, filling the gap in China's T2T recycling nylon sector, with a total investment of 3.79 billion yuan. The project's future capacity will reach 100,000 tons, demonstrating Constant Sun Group's firm commitment to sustainable development.

Production in 2025 may exceed 20 million tons.

The green and low-carbon transformation of the textile and apparel industry is urgent. According to the UN Environment Programme, the textile and apparel industry accounts for 10% of global carbon emissions, higher than the combined carbon emissions from all flights and maritime shipping. It is estimated that by 2030, when the world population reaches 8.5 billion, the carbon emissions from the clothing and textile industry may exceed those of the oil industry, becoming the largest source of carbon emissions; by 2050, the fashion industry will consume over 30% of the global carbon budget. China's "Implementation Opinions on Accelerating the Promotion of the Recycling of Waste Textiles" points out that by 2025, the textile recycling rate will reach 25%, and the annual output of recycled fibers will reach 2 million tons; by 2030, the recycling rate will reach 30%.

In addition, the annual production capacity of regenerative cellulose fiber was 7.8 million tons in 2023, and it is expected to increase to 10 million tons by 2025 (accounting for more than 60% of the global total capacity).

In the field of recycled polyester, the production scale of recycled polyester staple fiber in 2023 was 4.7 million tons, with 1.88 million tons of recycled ordinary polyester staple fiber. It is estimated that this will increase to over 8 million tons by 2025. Along with other recycled fibers such as recycled nylon and recycled spandex, the production of recycled fibers in China may exceed 20 million tons by 2025. Recycled fibers are the present, and more importantly, the future!
