India Takes Action, High Anti-Dumping Duties Imposed on Chinese Azo Pigments!
On March 12, 2025, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India issued an important announcement, making a positive final ruling on Azo Pigment originating from or imported from China. This final ruling recommends imposing anti-dumping duties on the involved products from China for a period of five years. Among them, the anti-dumping duty imposed on the involved producer Ruian Baoyuan Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. is 1387 USD/ton, Zhejiang Shengda Charter Win Chemical Co., Ltd. is 513 USD/ton, while other Chinese producers are subject to 1811 USD/ton.
It is reported that the products involved in this case cover a wide range, including Indian customs codes 32041711, 32041720, and 32041731, as well as some products under 32041719, 32041739, 32041740, 32041759, 32041769, and 32041790. These products, as azo pigments, have extensive applications in the chemical industry.
According to the masterbatch industry network, as early as March 29, 2024, the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry issued an announcement stating that at the application submitted by the domestic enterprise Sudarshan Chemical Limited, an anti-dumping investigation was initiated on azo pigments originating from or imported from China. At that time, the dumping investigation period for the case was from October 1, 2022, to September 30, 2023 (a total of 12 months), while the injury investigation period was broader, including 2020-2021, 2021-2022, 2022-2023, and October 1, 2022, to September 30, 2023. The affirmative final ruling of this anti-dumping will undoubtedly have a profound impact on the trade in azo pigments between China and India.
