IAC Announces Layoffs of 246 Employees

International Automotive Components Group(IAC) has submitted a notice to the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, announcing the layoff of 246 employees at two plants due to a cyclical decrease in demand.
According to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) submitted to the state on October 8, 2025, this auto supplier will lay off 178 workers at its plant in Menden, Michigan, and 68 employees at its plant in Alma, Michigan.
IAC Mendon Human Resources Manager Jessica Eyster wrote in the notification: "IAC Group has informed our employees at the Mendon manufacturing facility that we will be scaling back operations starting in December 2025 to accommodate lower cyclical demand. We are actively working with the local union to provide support for those affected by this action, and we expect this to be temporary."
The Menden factory will lay off mostly ordinary workers, with 178 out of 129 layoffs. At the Alma factory, 24 molding operators and 25 finishing operators are affected.
IAC Alma's Human Resources Manager Dawn McGourty submitted a similar notice for the facility. Both notices state, "As production requirements increase, we anticipate recalling employees."
According to the two documents, the layoffs will take effect around December 8. According to the union agreement, some employees may have bumping rights. The bargaining unit employees in Mendon are represented by UAW Local 503, while the employees in Alma are represented by USW Local 2-540.
