According to Bloomberg, although Chinese automaker Great Wall Motors (GWM) has just started production at its first factory in Brazil, it has already begun site selection and planning for a second factory to expand its presence in Brazil, the largest economy in South America.

Great Wall Motors' factory in Iracemápolis, São Paulo, Brazil, officially began operations on August 15. The factory was acquired by Great Wall Motors from Daimler AG four years ago. After commencing production, it will manufacture three models: the Haval H6 and Haval H9 SUVs, as well as the Power P30 pickup truck.

Although the factory has an annual production capacity of 50,000 vehicles, Parker Shi, CEO of Great Wall Motors International Business, stated that the company's ultimate goal is to achieve annual sales of 250,000 to 300,000 vehicles in Brazil (including locally produced and imported models).

Ricardo Bastos, Director of Institutional Affairs of Great Wall Motors Brazil, revealed in an interview at the production ceremony of the aforementioned factory that the company has been in talks with multiple Brazilian states including Santa Catarina, Paraná, São Paulo, and Espírito Santo, and has already received related proposals.

Ricardo Bastos said, "We may eventually consider the option of building a larger factory by integrating existing resources, and we do not rule out the possibility of building a new factory from scratch." He added that the final decision regarding Great Wall Motors' second factory in Brazil will be made after mid-2026.
