After Dissolving Its Subsidiary, Evonik Quickly Partners With a Leading Biobased Chemicals Company
Recently, Bloomage Biotech and the leading global chemical company Evonik officially signed a strategic cooperation memorandum of understanding in Beijing. The two parties will leverage their respective advantages to jointly provide global customers with high-quality bio-based amino acid products, promoting innovation and development in the field of animal nutrition and health.
It is worth mentioning that just a few days ago, Evonik (China) Investment Co., Ltd. and Shandong Vland Biotech Co., Ltd. officially signed a "Settlement Agreement" on July 31, 2025, deciding to initiate the dissolution and liquidation procedures for the joint venture Evonik Vland Biotech (Shandong) Co., Ltd. and its Qingdao branch. The reason is changes in the market environment and the company's actual business performance not meeting expected targets.
The joint venture was established on October 16, 2023, with the initial purpose of developing gut health solutions and probiotic products for farm animals in the Chinese market.
As a leading company in the global synthetic biology field, Huaheng Bio continues to provide the market with green and sustainable bio-based products through its advanced production technology and efficient bio-manufacturing platform. According to incomplete statistics, Huaheng Bio's key plans for 2025 are as follows:
In March, Huaheng Biotech announced adjustments to the "Annual Production of 50,000 Tons of Bio-based Succinic Acid and Bio-based Product Raw Material Production Base Construction Project" and the "Annual Production of 50,000 Tons of Bio-based Malic Acid Construction Project". After the adjustments, the succinic acid project production line can flexibly alternate production between succinic acid, L-valine, and inositol, with a total capacity remaining at 50,000 tons per year. The malic acid project production line can alternate production between malic acid (50,000 tons per year) and tryptophan (12,000 tons per year).
In April, Chifeng Huaheng Synthetic Biotechnology Co., Ltd.'s 50,000 tons/year amino acid mother liquor resource utilization project was publicly filed on relevant websites. The project has an investment of 40 million yuan and adopts a drying method to produce amino acid-containing peptide granules using amino acid mother liquor as raw material. Utilizing existing basic supporting facilities and 50,000 tons of amino acid mother liquor as raw materials, the project aims to achieve an annual production capacity of 26,000 tons of peptide granules.
In May, China Huaheng Bioengineering Co., Ltd. in Qinhuangdao conducted a one-time environmental impact assessment announcement on relevant websites for the expansion and renovation project with an annual production capacity of 12,000 tons of bio-based tryptophan. The project will ultimately achieve an annual production capacity of 12,000 tons of tryptophan, while retaining the original production capacity of malic acid and its derivatives, and flexibly alternating the production of 12,000 tons/year of tryptophan products.
On May 19, Huaheng Bio announced its plan to invest 320 million yuan in the construction of the "AI Precision Fermentation and Protein Engineering Shared Demonstration Project." The project aims to integrate advanced microbial fermentation technology with artificial intelligence to achieve real-time monitoring and optimization of the production process.
On July 30, Huaheng Biotech announced that it is planning to issue overseas shares (H-shares) and list on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
