Review of Recent Key Domestic Adiponitrile Projects
Recently, the hot topics in the adiponitrile field have mainly focused onThe acceleration of the localization process. Continuous release of production capacityThe industry is currently at a critical stage of rapid development.
Recent News Summary on Adiponitrile
April 9, 2026: Pingmei Shenma "Double Star Shining": 200,000-ton project launched.China Pingmei Shenma Group's subsidiaryAdvan's 200,000-ton-per-year Adiponitrile (Phase I) Project Officially Commences ProductionThe product purity reaches as high as 99.9%, achieving an internationally advanced level. At the same time, itsThe Phase III 100,000 t/a aminocapronitrile project of Aisian also successfully commenced construction. As a result, the group has become the only company in the world to master the two core technologies of adiponitrile and aminocapronitrile.
December 5, 2025: Milestone! Tianchen Qixiang’s 200,000-ton project fully reaches production capacity.under China National Chemical Engineering Group Corporation Ltd.Tianchen Qixiang’s 200,000-ton-per-year adiponitrile plant has reached full production capacity. This project is China’s first industrial-scale butadiene-based facility adopting proprietary technology, marking the realization of a stable and large-scale supply of “domestic flour.”
September 2025: NHU’s 10-Billion-Yuan Project Sets Sail, Targeting an Integrated Industrial ChainZhejiang NHU Co., Ltd. (002001.SZ) has launched in Tianjin Nangang Industrial Zone with a total planned investment of approximately10 billion yuanNylon new materials project. The project utilizes proprietary patented technology and plans to develop a complete industrial chain from adiponitrile to nylon 66 in two phases, aiming to break down technical barriers and reshape the market landscape.
November 2025, Quwo, Shanxi: Introduced a 100,000-ton-scale projectShanxi Zhengben New Materials Co., Ltd. and Quwo County regarding the construction of an annual production of100,000 tons of adiponitrileThe project is conducting cooperative discussions to inject new vitality into the development of the regional new materials industry.
In 2025, Hengli Petrochemical partners with Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics: 110 million for new technology development.Hengli Petrochemical signed an agreement with the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, with a total amount reaching110 million yuanA technology development contract to jointly develop a new adiponitrile production technology, in whichSix core achievements have entered the pilot test scaling stage. This technology adopts an innovative “one-step cyclohexane epoxidation process” and is expected to generate an output value exceeding 10 billion yuan.
In addition, Liaoyang Petrochemical is scheduled to complete the intermediate handover of its adiponitrile project in July 2025. The project comprises four core units: a 50,000 t/a adiponitrile unit, a 50,000 t/a hexamethylenediamine unit, a 120,000 t/a salt-forming unit, and a 100,000 t/a nylon 66 unit. Tangshan Zhonghao Chemical Co., Ltd.’s new materials intermediate pilot project (namely, a 2,000 t/a cyclohexene oxide and 1,000 t/a adiponitrile pilot project).Wujiaqu Yuantou Fine Chemicals Co., Ltd. has an annual production capacity of 50,000 tons of adiponitrile. The production facility uses a direct hydrogenation method from butadiene to produce adiponitrile, with by-products including 2,000 tons of 2-methylpentanediamine, 4,000 tons of 3-methylpyridine, and 14,200 tons of ammonium sulfate.
Deep Observation: Changes and Outlook
Behind these projects, several important changes are taking place.
Prices return to rational levels. As domestic production capacity has been released, the market price of adiponitrile has fallen from its peak in 2017.Over 80,000 yuan per tonsignificantly declined and stabilized at20,000 RMB/tonaround the lower positions on the left and right.Compared with imported raw materials, domestic raw materials can effectively reduce downstream enterprises’ overall procurement costs by approximately.12%。
Industry chain restructuring and upgrading: breaking the bottleneck in raw materials is driving the reshaping of China’s nylon industry landscape. In the coming years, the midstream polymerization and modification segment is expected to enter a phase of investment expansion and technological upgrading, with products accelerating their development toward differentiated and functional offerings such as high fluidity and high flame retardancy, in order to enhance product added value and competitiveness.
In the next 3 to 5 years, the domestic adiponitrile sector is likely to form a clearer and more diversified competitive landscape. During this process, the security of the industrial chain and overall competitiveness are expected to be significantly enhanced.
