Price hike again! basf to raise north american caprolactam and nylon prices starting september

On August 17, BASF announced on its official website that it will increase the prices of caprolactam, polyamide 6 (nylon 6), and copolyamide 6/66 (nylon 6/66 copolymer) in North America effective September 1, with an increase of 8 cents per pound (approximately 1189 yuan per ton).

The notice states: "The global situation continues to change, and the nylon industry chain is experiencing significant fluctuations. Further price adjustments cannot be ruled out."

In addition, on July 29, AdvanSix announced that effective August 3, the prices of caprolactam, nylon 6, and nylon 6/66 copolymers will be increased by 12 cents per pound.

Since the outbreak of the Persian Gulf conflict, spot prices for caprolactam and nylon 6 have continued to rise. According to assessments by S&P Global Platts, the delivered price of caprolactam to the U.S. Gulf Coast surged to 142 cents/lb at the end of May, compared with just 92 cents/lb at the end of February. After falling back to 121 cents/lb at the end of July, it rebounded again to 139 cents/lb as of August 12.

Nylon 6 prices have shown a similar trend, with the Southeast US plant-delivered price assessed at 145 cents/lb on August 12, up from 99 cents/lb at the end of February.
