Lotus Unveils “Focus 2030” Strategy, to Launch New Ultra-Hybrid Supercar Type 135

Gasgoo 2026-05-15 09:52:41

Gasgoo has learned that on May 13, Lotus officially released its “Focus 2030” strategic plan. Centered on four pillars—brand strengthening, diversified powertrain pathways, global collaboration, and financial discipline—the plan aims to build a more flexible and sustainable business model for the brand amid a complex market environment, ensuring it maintains steady resilience under pressure.

Specifically, in terms of powertrain strategy, Lotus will adopt a more flexible and diversified multi-powertrain approach, advancing in parallel across internal combustion engines, hybrid powertrains, and fully electric vehicles. In the short term, it aims to achieve an output mix of approximately 60% plug-in hybrid vehicles and 40% pure electric vehicles, thereby forging a path of transformation through a multi-powertrain strategy.

As one of the core highlight technologies of Lotus’s “Focus 2030” strategy, Lotus’s Luyao Super Hybrid technology has already been mass-produced in the Lotus For Me, which was officially launched on March 29. It is reported that within just one month of its launch, the Lotus For Me received more than 1,000 orders, with the SE Special Edition accounting for over 70% of orders and a repeat purchase rate from existing owners as high as 20%. Deliveries in the European market are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.

On this basis, Lotus announced that it will launch the all-new Type 135 super hybrid supercar in 2028.

The model will be equipped with a newly developed V8 hybrid powertrain from Lotus and will explore the possibility of applying F1-derived MGU-H electric turbocharging and pre-chamber combustion technologies to production vehicles. It is planned to be manufactured in Europe in the future, with more details to be announced later this year.

At the same time, Lotus has officially confirmed the continuation plan for the Emira sports car and will release updates in the coming weeks, thereby forming Lotus’s all-electric lineup consisting of the Eletre, Emeya, and Evija.

As the product line becomes more stable, Lotus is gradually pushing annual sales to 30,000 units to lay the foundation for sustained profitability.

Thanks to product mix optimization and cost control, Lotus Technology’s overall operating quality continues to improve: in 2025, Lotus delivered a total of 6,520 vehicles and generated total revenue of US$519 million; service revenue exceeded US$56 million, up 69% year over year; full-year gross margin rose to 9%, and operating loss narrowed by 46% year over year. With the Lotus For Me ramping up deliveries in global markets, the company’s revenue growth and operational improvement are expected to accelerate further.
