IT Home, May 25 – This morning, Xiaomi founder, chairman, and CEO Lei Jun released an extreme test video of Xiaomi car batteries. He stated that...Xiaomi’s battery safety test program includes as many as 1,230 items and adopts extremely stringent industry testing standards.

The extreme test video shows a lithium iron phosphate battery equivalent to 400,000 kilometers undergoing a nail penetration test under conditions of high temperature, fully charged state, and without water cooling. The final results show that after equivalent 400,000 km of aging the battery did not leak, ignite, or explode, and the casing did not rupture; meanwhile the battery voltage, temperature, and insulation were normal, the airtightness was qualified, and there was no water inside.

Additionally, in the first dual-cell nail penetration test, the Xiaomi car battery issued a thermal runaway alarm signal, with no thermal propagation, no fire, and no explosion; in the second dual-cell nail penetration test, there was still no thermal propagation, no fire, and no explosion.

According to a previous report by IT Home, there was news on May 19th of this month that Xiaomi Automobile introduced a new battery supplier, CALB, for the Kunlun model. For Xiaomi's third model, the primary battery supplier is Sunwoda, while CALB serves as the secondary supplier. The former supplies 60% of the batteries, and the latter accounts for 40%.

CALB stated that the company has indeed entered Xiaomi’s supply chain and will provide supporting products for the new vehicle, and should serve as a tier-one supplier. However, due to customer confidentiality requirements, it is not convenient to disclose specific details of the supply arrangements or data expectations. The market share and ranking mentioned in the above report are inaccurate. Xiaomi Auto said that information related to its vehicles is highly confidential and did not respond.
