Alpla Adds Two Packaging Plants In Turkey With €30 Million Investment

Plastmatch Global Digest 2026-09-20 15:56:12

ALPLA, an international packaging and recycling specialist from Hard, Austria, is further expanding its production capacity in Turkey. Its new facilities in Izmir and Adana have officially commenced operations, with both sites being modern factories. The total investment amounts to approximately €30 million, aiming to bring the company closer to its customers, shorten supply chains, and expand capacity for high-quality packaging solutions.

The new factories in Izmir and Adana have completed Apra’s production network in Turkey, significantly boosting the country’s overall production capacity. Meanwhile, they further solidify Turkey’s position as a core market within Apra’s Africa-Middle East-Turkey (AMET) region.

Philip Leiner, CEO of the Apra Group, stated, “Turkey boasts robust industrial strength and a dynamic consumer goods sector, with significant potential for future growth. With these two new factories, we are able to provide more efficient support to our customers, growing together with them as a reliable partner.”

Since entering the Turkish market in 1992, APRILA has established factories in Kocaeli, Ankara, Konya, Adana, and Izmir. Turkey is one of APRILA’s most important production and technology hubs in the AMET region, accounting for approximately one-third of the region’s capacity and business volume. Javier Delgado, Managing Director of APRILA’s AMET region, stated, “Turkey holds a key position in our regional strategy. We can now cover a broader geographic area, further strengthening our positioning as a systems supplier. In the coming years, we plan to continue expanding our business step by step.”

Alpla has established a modern production facility covering approximately 50,000 square meters in Izmir, while its Adana base spans around 20,000 square meters. The Izmir plant serves as an integrated production platform capable of manufacturing PET preforms, caps, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) products, and PET bottles. The Adana plant focuses on PET preforms, HDPE, and polypropylene (PP) packaging solutions. Both facilities cater to customers in the beverage, food, dairy, home care, and personal care sectors. The Adana and Izmir plants were officially inaugurated on September 14 and September 15, respectively. The opening ceremonies were attended by Group CEO Philipp Lener, Chief Operating Officer Walter Rietz, and numerous distinguished guests. Austrian Ambassador Gabriele Junn also attended the inauguration event at the Izmir facility.

The Izmir plant primarily serves customers in the Aegean region and western Turkey, while the Adana plant caters to the Mediterranean region and southeastern Turkey. Together, these two facilities lay a solid foundation for delivering short lead times, high flexibility, and stable supply to core consumer goods markets.

Emre Canoglu, Managing Director of Arplas Turkey, stated, “The new factory brings us closer to our customers. Meanwhile, we are investing in modern technology and production capacity to provide strong support for the long-term development of our domestic business.” The facility is equipped with advanced manufacturing processes, automation solutions, photovoltaic power generation systems, and rainwater harvesting systems, ensuring efficient and resource-conscious production operations.
